East Bay Eats: Third Culture Bakery

East Bay Eats: Third Culture Bakery

I was lucky enough to visit the Third Culture Bakery headquarters recently...and was surprised to find it's run solely by two guys! Home of the mochi muffin, TCB is a combination of Sam and Wenter's two cultures—Taiwanese and Indonesian—hence the name Third Culture. They do all their baking in a small room inside a cafe in Berkeley, and they work so hard to make enough baked goods to be delivered to all their vendors every day!

Their baked goods have popped up in Boba Guys and other shops, and every single thing we tried was delicious! They were also super sweet and made us matcha lattes.

The custard cakes were moist and delicious, and they, along with the mochi muffins, had a great texture and softness. If you go, get a video of how nice and bouncy these things are and tag them #squishydance a la Wenter, one of TCB's founders 😂 Stay tuned for delicious savory scones, and, if you can find them, try their green onion and three cheese scone. It's so delicious!
