SF Eats: Jane the Bakery
Jane has been on my to-go list for forever, and I finally got to check it off (well, at least one) by going to the new Jane the Bakery on Geary! This space is pretty small with the kitchen taking up most of the room, and the smells coming out are amazing. Amanda, the Jane franchise owner, showed us around the kitchen and gave us a lot of different things to try!
Apparently, all the Jane bread is now made in THIS bakery, and they have crazy industrial machines to make the best baked goods. Luckily, the team wasn't too bothered by us walking around and taking pictures.
I wish I had this amazing industrial oven in my house. They were popping loaves of bread in and out, and it was all happening so quickly!
One thing we saw Charles, the baker, and Jorgen, the head baker, make while we were there were these amazingly fluffy flatbreads. Amanda said Jane the Bakery is the ONLY location to get these right now. One was just a bunch of cheese, and the other was an amazing zataar, broccoli, tomato, etc. flatbread that got decorated with little flowers after it came out of the oven!
There's not a lot of seating in the new Jane, but I definitely would come back in to grab a coffee and pastry to go. My other favorites were the brioche donut, the avocado mash toast, and their newest item: the cardamom lattice bun. This was filled with a cardamom cream and was so freakin' delicious!
